The experience

The same river, with the lights on

The Sundown Cruise goes out after the sunset cruise has come home. By the time you walk up the gangway the sun is down, the lanterns on the middle deck are lit, and Guwahati is switching itself on along the bank.

Then the ropes come off, and for sixty minutes the city is something you watch from the water — the riverfront strung out in lights, the river dark and wide around you, the breeze coming off the water. This is a real sail, not a float: the route follows the season and the water level, as it does on every cruise we run.

On the middle deck a live singer and DJ carry the hour; the open upper deck is for the sky and the view. The bar and restaurant serve à la carte — a drink, a plate, or nothing at all — and you step back on shore with the rest of the evening still ahead of you.

Sunset or Sundown?

Same boat, same price. A different river.

The two cruises share the vessel, the sixty minutes, the ticket price and the music. What changes is what's in the sky — and what time you need to be at the river.

Choose Sundown for the city lights. If what you want is the river at night — Guwahati lit along the bank, lanterns overhead, a drink in your hand and a singer on the deck — this is the sailing for it.

Choose it when the afternoon is taken. The sunset cruise follows the sun, which means a late-afternoon departure. Sundown sails after it returns — time to finish work, finish the day's sightseeing, or land in Guwahati and still make the boat.

Choose it when sunset is full. In winter the sunset cruise regularly sells out. Sundown is the next sailing out the same evening, at the same price.

Choose Sunset if the sunset is the point. Sundown sails once the sun has gone. If watching it set over the Brahmaputra is why you're coming, take the sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra instead.

What's included

Your ticket, plainly

The ticket covers the 60-minute cruise and the live entertainment — a singer and DJ on the middle deck. Good to know before you board: food and drinks aren't included in the ticket. The on-board bar and restaurant serve à la carte, billed as you order — so you pay only for what you feel like.

Every guest has the run of the vessel's public spaces: the open upper deck, the roofed middle deck, and a fully covered air-conditioned lounge — somewhere to sit out a cool night or a shower. Clean washrooms on every deck, and a dedicated smoking area.

Timings

We sail once the sunset cruise is home

The Sundown Cruise takes the sailing between our sunset and dinner cruises, so the sun is already down when the ropes come off. Today's time is below, straight from our crew's schedule.

Check the live timing for your date on the booking page before you plan your evening, and please report 30 minutes before departure — the boat sails on schedule.

Today's sailing

6:00 – 7:00 PM · Please report by 5:30 PM

A 60-minute cruise. Timings are set by our crew and update here automatically.

In good hands

Our captains are licensed second-class masters, and the vessel runs regular third-party surveys, safety drills and pollution tests. Life jackets and buoys are aboard, first aid and fire systems in place, and every deck is railed. With women across our front-office and service crew and well-populated decks each sailing, solo travellers — women included — cruise with us comfortably every week. The ride itself is smooth; at most a gentle rock in a strong wind.

Getting there & boarding

Plan your arrival like a local

The boarding point moves with the river

The Brahmaputra rises and falls with the seasons, so we board from the Gateway of Guwahati terminal, Panbazar in winter and from Uzanbazar in summer. Your exact boarding point is always printed on your boarding pass — check it before you book your cab. On Google Maps, search "Alfresco Grand".

Arrive 30 minutes before sailing

Please report at least 30 minutes before departure — the boat sails on schedule and cannot wait for late arrivals. Between November and January, Guwahati's evening traffic is at its heaviest; give yourself up to an hour.

Travel times & parking

Around 15 minutes from Guwahati railway station, 40 from Kamakhya station, and roughly an hour to an hour twenty from the airport, traffic depending. At Panbazar there's paid multilevel parking opposite the terminal and free parking at the ghat just before it; the Uzanbazar point has free parking.

A note on stairs

Boarding is a short walk up to the ship, then one flight of stairs to the middle deck and two to the upper deck. Guests with limited mobility, wheelchairs or strollers should plan accordingly — please call us before booking and we'll do our best to help.

Sundown cruise questions

What's the difference between the Sundown and Sunset cruises?

The sky, and the time you need to be at the river. Both are 60-minute sails on the same vessel at the same price, with a live singer and DJ and the bar and restaurant open. The sunset cruise is timed for golden hour; the Sundown Cruise sails after it returns, so you get the river after dark and Guwahati's lights from the water. If the sunset itself is what you're coming for, book the sunset cruise.

What time does the Sundown Cruise sail?

It takes the sailing after the sunset cruise comes home. Today's time is shown at the top of this page and updates automatically — check the live timing for your date on the booking page before you plan your evening, and please report 30 minutes before departure.

How much does the Sundown Cruise cost?

Tickets are ₹700 per person on the middle deck and ₹850 on the open upper deck; children pay ₹600 and ₹700. That's the same as the sunset cruise. Prices are fixed year-round, with no weekend or holiday surge, and the same rate online, by phone, or at the counter.

Is food included?

Food and drinks aren't included in the Sundown Cruise ticket — there's a full bar and restaurant on board, so you order exactly what you feel like, à la carte. Outside food isn't allowed (water is fine, and a celebration cake is always welcome).

Can children come along?

Absolutely — children cruise with us every day, with a guardian responsible for them on board. All decks are railed, life jackets are available on request, and infants aged 3 and under sail free (book a child ticket if your little one needs their own seat).

What happens if the weather turns?

In genuinely extreme weather the boat stays ashore and your Sundown Cruise is refunded in full. Short of that, the open decks can be breezy after dark, so bring a light layer — and the covered air-conditioned lounge is open to every guest if it's hot, cold or raining.

How do I book?

Book online — bookings open 7 days before the cruise date and close at 5:00 PM on the day of the cruise. Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability. Groups of more than 20 should message or call us directly.

Here for the sunset? The sunset cruise sails earlier, timed to golden hour — sixty minutes of the famous light, from ₹700.

Want dinner and a show? The dinner cruise is the full evening — 90 minutes with a buffet cooked on board and Sattriya, Bihu and live singing on deck.
